Welcome to Mindly - Journal & Insights ("Mindly," "we," "our," or "us"). We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains how Mindly collects, uses, stores, processes, and protects information when you use our app and its features.

1. Information We Collect

Your Journal Data

Mindly is designed to keep your journal data private.

Your journal entries, photos, mood records, goals, journal templates, preferences, customization settings, and other journal-related information are primarily stored locally on your device.

If you choose to enable Google Drive Backup, your journal data may be backed up to your own Google Drive account using Google's APIs.

We do not operate our own servers for storing your journal entries.

Profile Information

You may choose to provide a nickname or profile name within the app. This information is stored locally on your device and may be included in your Google Drive backup if backup is enabled.

AI-Powered Insights

Mindly includes optional AI-powered features that can analyze journal content you choose to submit for analysis.

Depending on the features you use, AI analysis may generate:

  • Journal summaries

  • Patterns and trends

  • Mood and emotional observations

  • Writing patterns

  • Personal statistics

  • Goal-related insights

  • Reflection suggestions

  • Habit and improvement observations

  • Insights presented through text, tables, and graphs

  • Other journal-related observations based on your entries

  • Relevant real-person quotes related to generated insights

Mindly's AI insights can analyze journal entries from your recent journaling history, including your past 14 days of entries, when required by the feature.

AI analysis is optional. Your journal content is processed only when you use an AI-powered feature that requires it.

We do not sell your journal content or use your journal entries to create advertising profiles.

We do not intentionally use your journal entries to train AI models.

Photos and Map Information

If you use photo journaling or map-based journaling, information you add to your journal, including photos and location-related information, may be stored locally on your device and included in your Google Drive backup if backup is enabled.

Mindly does not intentionally collect your location in the background for advertising or tracking purposes.

Analytics and Crash Reports

We use third-party services such as Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to identify crashes, bugs, and performance problems.

These services may collect technical and usage information such as:

  • App version

  • Device model

  • Operating system version

  • App interactions and feature usage

  • Session information

  • Crash information

  • Diagnostic information

  • Other technical information provided by the relevant service

Analytics and crash-reporting services do not receive your journal entries as part of normal analytics or crash reporting.

2. How We Use Information

Information processed by Mindly and its supporting services may be used to:

  • Create, edit, and manage journal entries.

  • Provide journaling and customization features.

  • Generate AI-powered summaries and insights when requested.

  • Analyze patterns and trends in your journal entries.

  • Provide goal-related insights.

  • Generate statistics and visualizations.

  • Provide journaling reminders.

  • Provide photo and map journaling features.

  • Back up and restore your journal through Google Drive when enabled.

  • Restore eligible premium purchases.

  • Understand app usage and improve the user experience.

  • Diagnose crashes, bugs, and technical problems.

  • Maintain and improve the security and reliability of the app.

3. AI Processing

Mindly provides optional AI-powered journal analysis.

When you request an AI summary, insight, analysis, visualization, or other AI feature, the journal content required to provide that feature may be sent to an AI service provider for processing.

The AI service is used to process the requested journal information and return the requested result.

Depending on the AI feature, the information processed may include journal text, dates, mood information, goals, or other relevant journal data.

We do not sell your journal content.

We do not use your journal entries for advertising purposes.

We do not intentionally use your journal entries to train AI models.

AI processing may involve third-party service providers. These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and applicable data-processing terms.

We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of the AI service provider used by Mindly for additional information about how submitted information is processed and retained.

4. Google Drive Backup

If you enable Google Drive Backup:

  • Your journal data may be backed up to your own Google Drive account.

  • Mindly uses Google's APIs to provide backup and restore functionality.

  • Backup data is stored in Google's designated application storage area.

  • Mindly does not use your Google Drive data for advertising.

  • Mindly does not sell your Google Drive data.

Google processes information according to its own privacy policies and terms.

You can disable Google Drive Backup from within the app where the feature is available.

5. Journal Export and Import

Mindly may allow you to export and import your journal data.

When you export your journal, the resulting file is created for you to save, transfer, or otherwise manage.

Once an exported file leaves the app's controlled storage, its security depends on where you choose to store or share it.

You are responsible for protecting exported journal files and deciding where and with whom they are shared.

6. Reminders and Notifications

Mindly may allow you to create reminders to help you maintain a journaling habit.

Reminder information, such as your selected reminder time and notification preferences, may be stored locally on your device.

Mindly does not use journaling reminders to track your physical location.

7. Customization and Journal Templates

Mindly allows you to personalize your journaling experience through features such as:

  • Custom backgrounds

  • Colors and themes

  • Font styles

  • App appearance

  • Custom app icon

  • Journal templates

  • Other personalization settings

These settings are primarily stored locally on your device and may be included in your Google Drive backup if backup is enabled.

8. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

Mindly offers optional premium subscriptions that may provide access to additional features.

Premium subscriptions may be available as:

  • Monthly subscriptions
  • Yearly subscriptions

Subscriptions are purchased and managed through Google Play. Google Play handles payment processing, billing, renewals, cancellations, and refunds according to its applicable terms and policies.

Mindly does not receive or store your complete payment information, such as your credit card number.

Your subscription status and purchase information may be processed by Google Play and, if applicable, RevenueCat to provide features such as:

  • Activating premium features
  • Verifying your subscription status
  • Restoring purchases
  • Managing subscription access across devices
  • Processing subscription-related information

Subscriptions may automatically renew unless canceled according to Google Play's subscription terms.

You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Google Play account.

If RevenueCat is used by Mindly, RevenueCat may process information such as anonymous purchase identifiers, subscription status, product information, and transaction-related information required to manage and restore your subscription.

Google Play and RevenueCat process information according to their respective privacy policies and terms.

9. Analytics and Tracking

Mindly may use Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the app and to improve its features.

Examples of information that may be processed include:

  • App version

  • Device information

  • Operating system information

  • Feature usage

  • Session information

  • Approximate usage patterns

  • Diagnostic information

We do not intentionally send the contents of your journal entries to Firebase Analytics.

Third-party analytics services may use identifiers and technical information as described in their respective privacy policies.

10. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information processed by Mindly.

These measures may include:

  • Local storage of journal data.

  • Secure communication when information is transmitted over the Internet.

  • Google's security mechanisms for Google Drive services.

  • Access controls and security measures provided by third-party services.

  • Ongoing security updates and app improvements.

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

11. Children's Privacy

Mindly is not intended for children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we become aware that we have knowingly received personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

12. Your Choices and Rights

You remain in control of your journal data.

Depending on the features available in the app, you may:

  • Create, edit, and delete journal entries.

  • Delete photos and other journal content.

  • Create or delete goals.

  • Export your journal.

  • Import previously exported journal data.

  • Disable Google Drive Backup.

  • Manage journaling reminders.

  • Choose whether to use AI-powered features.

  • Remove locally stored app data.

  • Uninstall Mindly.

If you uninstall Mindly, locally stored data may be deleted. Data that you previously backed up to Google Drive or exported to another location may remain there until you delete it separately.

13. Third-Party Services

Mindly may use trusted third-party services to provide certain features, including:

  • Google Drive

  • Google Sign-In

  • Google Play Billing

  • Firebase Analytics

  • Firebase Crashlytics

  • RevenueCat, if applicable

  • AI service providers used to provide AI-powered journal analysis and insights

These third-party services may process information according to their own privacy policies and applicable terms.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Mindly, our features, or applicable requirements.

When significant changes are made, we may provide notice through the app or publish the updated policy on our website.

The Last Updated date at the beginning of this Privacy Policy will be updated when changes are made.
